Why buy property in Scotland?

There are many excellent reasons to choose Scottish property over property in other parts of the UK. You have a terrific choice of locations, a variety of yields and a very strong private rented sector.

What’s more, when you buy property in Scotland everything is freehold – not leasehold. This is directly opposite to the majority of property in England, where it’s leasehold. Leasehold means that, in addition to other costs, you have to pay a ground rent.

And…unlike in England and Northern Ireland, if you’re a property investor who is based overseas, i.e. not in the UK, in Scotland you will not be made to pay a 2% purchase tax surcharge.
